In May 2025, Pamozi embarked on a journey that would open our eyes as much as it opened others. Partnering with Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Health and Child Welfare and the Council for the Blind, we launched our inaugural eye-screening campaign in the breathtaking setting of Victoria Falls. Over the course of three days, we attended to more than 350 people, each person carried their own story of visual struggle and hope.

The response humbled us completely.

The lines stretched longer than we anticipated. The need ran deeper than we imagined. By the second day, it became clear that our three-day window was merely scratching the surface of a community crying out for help. The hardest part was not the long days or the complex prescriptions—it was having to turn people away, knowing their need was just as urgent as those we could serve.

For those we were able to serve, we provided prescription glasses that met their specific needs. Others received sunglasses, a seemingly small but meaningful gesture that offers significant relief from the intense African sun that beats down on Victoria Falls.

This campaign succeeded because of an incredible network of supporters who believed in our vision. From those who donated glasses to volunteers who gave their time, from local partners who opened doors, every person played a vital role in transforming lives.

The glasses we distributed were more than corrective lenses; they were tangible symbols of a community that refuses to let preventable vision problems hold people back.

Our first campaign in Victoria Falls taught us that the need is vast, but so is the potential for impact. Every person who left with clearer vision carried with them not just better eyesight, but renewed possibilities for their future.

We are already planning our return, with greater capacity, deeper partnerships, and an even stronger commitment to ensuring that something as basic as clear vision isn’t a luxury, but a right accessible to all.
